“Understanding the Role of Construction “

Materials Grade 2 teachers organised a role-play centred around the story ‘The Three Little Pigs’ to launch their new expedition, ‘Home Is Where the Heart Is’. This immersive activity encouraged students to apply their understanding practically by observing how the choice of materials affected the strength and durability of the houses in the story. As they engaged in the role-play, students were prompted to think about the consequences of the pigs' material choices when faced with the big bad wolf's threat. After the enactment, the teachers led a reflective discussion, allowing students to share their observations and insights. This reflective process helped students reinforce their understanding of construction materials and their significance in creating safe homes. Overall, the activity effectively introduced the expedition theme, fostering better understanding, critical thinking, and personal development among the students.
