In collaboration with The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) of India and Bhutan, City Montessori School, Rajendra Nagar Campus II, Lucknow organized ‘Vasudha International- A Quest for Sustainable Development’- an inter school event, seeking participation of students in a movement to create a sustainable planet. The project aimed at working towards the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations and accepted by all nations of the world in order to have a progressive, sustainable and peaceful world by 2030. The participants researched on issues related to their chosen theme, sensitized others and conceptualized concrete ways to take action. They created a short documentary of the entire experiential learning project right from the conception, ideation, research, groundwork, community support and sustainable values acquired or delivered. Of the 5 essential elements- Jal (Water), Vaayu (Air), Urja (energy), Vann ( Forests) and Kutumb (Community) that constitute the planet as a whole, 4 students of Grade 6 worked on the theme ‘JAL’ under the guidance of their mentor Matrayee Singh, were declared winners and conferred with the “Jalvaayu Mitra Award”.
