Senior Programme (Grades 8)
“Pedagogy must evolve to make education more experiential, holistic, integrated,
inquiry-driven, discovery oriented, learner-centered, discussion based, flexible,
enjoyable”. - NEP,2020
Experiential education in the senior grades fosters the holistic development of learners by
immersing them in an experience and then encourages reflection about the experience to
develop new skills, new attitudes, or new ways of thinking. The pedagogy includes
Outbound programmes, Excursions, Interdisciplinary projects, Science experiments, Role
playing, Reflection and journaling, Interactive classroom games and so on. The educators
use Learning Outcomes (Los) as a tool for ensuring that education is an interconnected
process and not only a means of simply ‘completing’ a topic.
The focus during the Senior Programme is continually on key concepts, ideas,
applications, and problem solving. To build on pedagogical and curricular style, teaching
and learning is conducted in a more interactive manner encouraging questions/dialogue
with fun, creative, collaborative, exploratory activities, arts-integrated and sports-
integrated education, storytelling etc. Classroom transactions shift towards competency-
based learning with assessment tools aligned towards engaging learners with enjoyable and
inspirational pursuits for students at all levels. All this is amalgamated with state-of-the-art
technology to boost dynamic, practical and vigorous learning therein, creating a wider
consciousness of the world. To augment aesthetic, moral, ethical and emotional
dimensions, various co-curricular activities form an integral part of the educational
journey. The school’s ‘morning circle’ and ‘afternoon circle’ are initiatives which help the
learners to manoeuvre their thoughts and emotions in the desired direction. Fundamentally,
the ambience is rampant with the enthusiasm and creative drive of the learners.
