Kathashaala in Grade 3, 4th April, 2022

Stories bring facts to life, make the abstract concrete and walk the listener through the mind of the author. Storytelling provides students with a window to a new world, where they are able to learn about life, the world and themselves. Grade 3 students were introduced to “Kathashaala”, where parents and teachers narrated stories from different states of India. This was followed with the learners modelling the activity for their peers to implement their learning, with stories of different genres. They learnt the significance of voice modulation and facial expression for expression of thoughts. Some of them chose famous stories from the collections of Akbar and Birbal tales, Gautam Buddha and their all-time favourite jungle stories. They were ingenious and extremely resourceful with different props and costumes. To record their learning experiences, the students created a scrapbook with reflections on their learning and conclusions from the story, and their immediate thoughts. The effort made by every child was appreciated and became inspirational for the peer group. Sharing of thoughts, the flow and their sequence gained precedence over sentence structures and related word work. Students donned the role of authors, narrators and illustrators, addressing their favourite part in the story. It was observed that learning becomes deeper and long-lasting with engagement of parents as part of the teaching community, who had volunteered to narrate stories in the classrooms.

Grade3 makes Popsicle Harmonics, 11th May, 2022

The hands-on approach at Heritage enables students to manage issues and concepts using all their senses. Learning thus becomes multi-dimensional and a cognitive, sensory and emotional experience. In the Maker Space, the students of Grade 3 were able to define sound, identify vibration, explain how sound is heard, define applications of sound by designing a Popsicle Harmonic model and also testing it.

2D Clay Modelling for Geometrical Shapes for Grade 1, 12th May, 2022

Clay-modelling helps to improve hand-eye coordination, develops fine motor skills, stimulates imagination and creativity and improves dexterity and attention span. The students of Grade-1 had a hands-on session for developing and identifying basic 2D shapes- circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, quadrilateral, hexagon and octagon, using clay and skew sticks. It was a lot of fun for all involved.

Grade 7 Explores – Snap Circuits, 18th May, 2022

They were excited to see the resulting project functioning like the printed circuit board found in most electronic products. It was an enriching experience for the learners.

Fun Activities for Building Gross Motor Skills, 26th May, 2022

Holistic education targets the development of all faculties- cognitive, sensory, social, emotional, and physical. At The Heritage School, we understand the importance of maintaining this unity of mind, heart, and body by providing the children opportunities to engage in sports. We focus on building gross motor skills through fun activities and games. Children learn to be disciplined and use their energies constructively. Sports support health and physical growth and also contribute to social and emotional learning as the children learn to collaborate, imbibe team spirit, take challenges in their stride, and overcome fears. In the cognitive domain, sports help children to improve focus, hand-eye coordination, balance, and attention span.

Environmental Sciences-15th December,2022

“When the well is dry, we know the worth of water.” - Benjamin Franklin
Climate Change is a serious issue that has been plaguing the modern world for decades now. In the recent past, we have seen complete transformation of certain landscapes. Once lush green, some forests are now deserts, oases have dried out, and summers are breaking heat records year on year.
Not all of us feel the effects of Climate Change equally, which is why most people dismiss it, but it is occurring on a global level, though limited to some geographical locations at the moment.
To combat this issue that has disrupted lives across the globe, and is continuing to do so, there is now an increased focus on Environmental Sciences. Studies are being heavily funded, finally getting the recognition they deserve, and students are interested in pursuing the stream as they feel truly concerned.
